Who is YLC Looking For?
YLC is seeking friendly, energetic, and enthusiastic college students and young professionals to mentor high school students at this year’s YLC conference. Mentors must have completed two years of college by June 2010 or be a young professional. Applicants will be required to attend all of the following:
- One Meet & Greet to be scheduled with Mentor Director, David Tang. Meet & Greets to be held every Saturday (April 24 – May 22) from 2-5 pm at Lemongrass Cafe located at 5109 Bellaire Blvd (cross street is South Rice) Bellaire, TX 77401. Meet & Greet held in Austin, TX TBD.
- Mentor Retreat, June 5-6, 2010 at Rice University.
- Conference, June 25-27, 2010 at Rice University.
Why Should You Join YLC?
The conference benefits both students and mentors. Not only do mentors get to relive their college years for a weekend living in a dormitory and eating cafeteria food, but mentors can network with other mentors and build lasting friendships. Other benefits include opportunities to:
- Share your knowledge, experience, and wisdom with high school students
- Lead and facilitate workshops, team building activities, and group discussions
- Challenge, inspire, and motivate students
- Further and develop your own leadership, team-building and communication skills
