Who is YLC Looking For?
YLC is seeking friendly, energetic, and enthusiastic college students and young professionals to mentor high school students at this year’s YLC conference. Mentors must have completed two years of college by June 2011 or be a young professional. Applicants will be required to attend all of the following:
- One Meet & Greet to be scheduled with the Mentor Director, Tommy Ma. Meet & Greets to be held every Saturday (April 30 – May 21) from 2-4 pm at Lemongrass Cafe located at 5109 Bellaire Blvd (cross street is South Rice) Bellaire, TX 77401.
- Mentor Retreat, June 4-5, 2011
- Conference, June 24-26, 2011 at Rice University.
There are limited mentor spots and the last day to apply is May 20, so please sign up as soon as possible to schedule a Meet & Greet!
Why Should You Join YLC?
The conference benefits both students and mentors. Not only do mentors get to relive their college years for a weekend living in a dormitory and eating cafeteria food, but they can network with other mentors and build lasting friendships. Other benefits include opportunities to:
- Share your knowledge, experience, and wisdom with high school students
- Lead and facilitate workshops, team building activities, and group discussions
- Challenge, inspire, and motivate students
- Further and develop your own leadership, team-building, and communication skills
