I’m a student, and I have not registered yet. Can I still register for YLC Conference 2009?

Sorry, but we are already at capacity. We hope that you will consider registering for next year’s conference. Expect to see the online application sometime around April of next year.

What time do I need to check-in?

Check-in is on Friday June 26 from 6 to 7 PM. All final arrivals must be in by 7 PM.

What time is check-out?

Check-out is on Sunday June 28 and starts at 11:00 AM.

Does my parent/guardian have to be with me at check-in and check-out?

You should check-out in the same manner that you checked-in. If you were dropped off, you should be picked up by a parent or guardian. If you carpooled with a friend, you should carpool with that same friend. If you drove yourself to conference, you can check yourself out.

How do I get to Lovett College?

We recommend using Entrance 3 off of Main St. and MacGregor. The drop-off location will be in front of Lovett College (see building 38 on our map). YLC will post signs along the driveway. Students are to report to Sid Rich College for check-in.

My parent/guardian is dropping me off. Where can they park?

UPDATED 6/22! We recommend that parents/guardians drop-off their students at the drop-off point (marked with a green star on our map). There’s no need for parents/guardians to escort their students to Lovett College. YLC volunteers will be available to ensure students make it to Lovett. This will reduce the amount of congestion on the Campus Loop. If you must park temporarily, please park on the side of street – do not block traffic behind you. YLC cannot be held liable for what Rice Campus Police do to your car.

Note that the Campus Loop is a one way street where traffic moves counter-clockwise. To exit, simply follow the Campus Loop back to the entrance in which you entered.

I’m driving myself to Conference. Where can I park?

UPDATED 6/22! Students who are driving themselves to conference should first park their car at West Lot 1. Do not go to Lovett first – go to West Lot 1 first. YLC volunteers will be waiting in the Greenbriar lot. They will provide you with a parking permit and a shuttle to Lovett. The parking permit should be placed inside of your car – hung on the rear-view mirror. If your car does not have this tag, it will be towed by Rice University. YLC is not responsible for any damages or towing fees incurred to your vehicle.

Can my friends come visit me at YLC?

If they are not registered with with the 2008 YLC Conference, the answer is no. Again, this presents a distraction to the presentation of the leadership program.

Can leave YLC for just a few minutes?

No. Parents have entrusted YLC with the safety of their students. Please remain in the areas designated by YLC, and please follow the instructions of your mentors and the Council. Failure to comply are grounds for immediate dismissal.
