Attention YLC Mentors, Students, Friends, Supporters and Members: Get your game face on and costumes out.  YLC is proud to host our First Annual Dodgeball Tournament, anticipated to be an event of epic proportions.

It’s easy to form a team! Teams require only 6 players minimum and can have no more than 10 people total. The fee to play is: $100 per team; High School Students only pay $80 per team; $120 per team for all walk-ins.

The fees help cover our costs for hosting the tournament and then towards covering costs for the annual Youth Leadership Conference.

Registration Questions

  1. How do I register my team?
    To register your team, you must complete the following items:

    • Registration Form – Only one per team please
    • Signed Waivers – One per team member
    • Registration Fee – $100 per team; High School Students only pay $80 per team; $120 per team for all walk-ins.

    Registration Form and Fees MUST be received by Friday, August 13, 2010 at 5 PM. Signed waivers may be turned in at check-in on the day of the tournament. ATTENTION High School Students under 18: Your parent or guardian MUST sign the waiver in order for you to participate!

  2. I’m a student, can I play on the same team as my mentor from Conference?
    Yes! Teams can be mixed students and non-students.
  3. How much do I pay for my registration fee?
    If you are a high school student (entering high school in the Fall), you pay $80 for your team. All others pay $100 per team.
  4. What’s the difference between high school and regular registration?
    Only teams composed entirely of high school students qualify for high school registration. Student IDs will be checked at the check-in table.

Tournament Rules

  1. How many people can form a team?
    Teams must have a minimum of 6 members and a maximum of 10 people. At least 1 female must be playing in each individual match and every round. A maximum of 6 team members may play in each match.
  2. How long is each match?
    Each match will last approximately 10 – 15 minutes. Matches will end when all the members of a team is eliminated.
  3. How many rounds will we play?
    This will depend on how many teams register. Each team will play all other teams in one on one matches. Depending on how many teams register, teams will advance based on “best of 5 matches ” or “best of 7 matches.” First to win 3 matches or 4 matches, respectively, will advance to the next round. Losers will play in the consolation bracket. More details coming soon.

  1. What time will the tournament begin?
    Check-in begins at 11:30 AM Sunday, August 15, 2010 at Kicks Indoor Soccer (611 Shepherd Houston, TX 77007). Matches will commence at NOON sharp. Tournament ends at 4 PM.
  2. How do I get to Kicks Indoor Soccer?
    Kicks Indoor Soccer is located at 611 Shepherd Houston, TX 77007.From I-10 take the Shepherd/Durham exit and head south on Durham for about 3/4 miles. The facility will be on your left after crossing Washington Ave.

    From Loop 610 West take Memorial Drive to Shepherd. Exit and turn north (left). Kicks will be on the left about 3 blocks up after the light at Feagan. (You have passed the building if you reach Washington Ave.

    From Allen Pkwy or Memorial from downtown take Shepherd exit and turn right (north). Kicks will be on the left 3 blocks north of Allen Parkway, just past the light at Feagan.

  3. Why is YLC hosting a dodgeball tournament?
    YLC relies on contributions and donations in order to fund the annual Youth Leadership Conference. Conference registration fees only cover half of the total cost of hosting the annual Youth Leadership Conference and the rest must be raised with the help of your contributions and fundraising events like the dodgeball tournament.
