Directions to Sid-Richardson College for Student Drop Off
Sid-Richardson College is Building #38 on the Rice University Map at the bottom of the page. You may enter through Entrance 4 on Main Street.

Parking Information for Registered Students
Location: Rice University Lot 6 (Entrance 8)
Please refer to the Rice University Map at the bottom of the page.
Permit: You will need a permit from YLC to park at Rice University. Your mentor will contact you one week prior to Conference. At that time, please notify him or her that you intend to drive yourself to Conference. We will need the make, model, and license plate number of your car, so we may have a permit ready when you arrive.
Instructions: On Friday, July 29th when you arrive at Lot 6, there will be YLC volunteers at the parking lot to hand you your permit. Please place this permit inside your car. YLC volunteers will then shuttle you to Sid-Richardson College for check-in. Please allot extra time for parking and make sure you arrive at check-in location latest by 2:00 PM. 

What to Bring to Conference

YLC will provide all Conference materials, lodging and meals.   Dinner will be provided after check-in on Friday.  All three meals will be provided Saturday. Breakfast and lunch will be served prior to check-out on Sunday.  YLC will also provide you with a conference t-shirt and ask that you wear it on Saturday.

What to Bring

  • Sleeping bag or bed sheets and blankets for twin x-long mattress
  • Pillow
  • Towel
  • Toiletries (e.g., toothbrush, toothpaste, contact lens case and solution, soap, shampoo)
  • Semi-formal attire for Saturday evening dinner
  • Sneakers for outdoor activities
  • Light sweater or jacket
  • Change of casual clothes for two days (school appropriate)
  • Pajamas
  • Water bottle

What NOT to Bring

For safety reasons, please do not bring any of the following items:

  • Fireworks
  • Drugs
  • Alcohol
  • Tobacco products
  • Vapes
  • Weapons
  • Firearms
  • Ice chest
  • Anything expensive you do not want to lose. YLC is not responsible for lost belongings.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do my parents have to be with me at check-in and check-out?
It is not necessary for a parent/guardian to be with you at check-in. They may drop you off at the drop off location, and YLC mentors will escort you to the check-in desk.

However, a parent/guardian must be present at check-out. If someone other than your parent/guardian is picking you up from Conference, please let our check-in staff know the designated check-out person’s name. If you are driving yourself to Conference, you do not need a parent/guardian present at check-out.

Can my friends come visit me at YLC?
Only registered students will be allowed at Conference. We do not allow outside guests as they can be a distraction to our conference program and the student groups.

Can I leave the Conference for just a few minutes?
Students are not allowed to leave the designated areas on campus during Conference. Due to safety reasons, students who leave the designated areas will be immediately dismissed from Conference.

What if I cannot make it to the check-in time or need to leave Conference early?
Late arrivals after 2:00 PM are not permitted as they are disruptive to the other students at Conference.  We will not be allowing students to arrive late or leave conference early, so that students can experience the program in its entirety and also to prevent disrupting the student group dynamic. No refunds will be given for any registration withdrawals within 14 days prior to Conference. Please contact [email protected] if you have further questions.
